The goal of Supply Chain Management is to ensure materials and products are in the right place, at the right time, anywhere in the world. That’s why our process experts work closely with teams across planning, procurement, production and distribution. This helps us always look at the entire value chain at Blum, from start to finish.

Working in and on the value chain

Our colleagues excel at joining the dots and bringing different perspectives together. That’s what makes our supply chain tick. Every day, our teams in Planning, Procurement and Distribution make sure materials, products and information flow smoothly. Their work is supported by cross-functional processes that connect and structure all these activities across the value chain.

We take an end-to-end approach to supply chain management, organising our work around four key stages: Plan, Source, Make and Deliver. In practice, this means looking at our processes from supplier to customer. Each team brings its own expertise and experience to every stage, from planning and procurement to production and transport logistics. Our cross-functional processes bring these stages together and help us keep the bigger picture in view.

The result: solutions that work in everyday operations and can be adapted and improved over time. What matters most is having a shared understanding of how the different process steps are connected, how they depend on each other and what we want to achieve across the entire value chain.

Supply Chain Management

Blum’s Supply Chain Management team oversees the entire value chain, from start to finish. We shape, manage and optimise the key processes in our end-to-end supply chain – Plan, Source, Make and Deliver – from planning and procurement through to production and delivery. By working closely across teams and locations, we can create clear interfaces, connect processes seamlessly and build an efficient supply chain from our suppliers to our customers.

Processes & International Network

This division combines process expertise with international teamwork. We continuously improve our supply chain standards, support our subsidiaries, contribute to training events and projects and act as a link between sites. This helps us ensure that our processes are applied consistently and effectively across the globe.

Planning

Planning makes sure requirements, volumes and stock levels are all in line. We plan product availability, manage orders and services and ensure our commitments to customers are realistic and reliable. Close collaboration with Production and Distribution is essential to making this work.

Procurement

Procurement, or purchasing, makes sure everything we need is available: raw materials, custom-made parts, consumables, operating supplies and capital equipment. Our work includes both strategic and operational activities, Clearly defined processes, supplier development, cost awareness and sustainability are core components of our day-to-day activities.

Distribution

Distribution makes sure our products are available around the world. We manage our warehouse locations, make sure we have the necessary capacity in place and continuously optimise our logistics processes. Together with our subsidiaries and internal teams, we lay the groundwork for reliable deliveries to our customers.

Transport Logistics

Transport Logistics plans and manages the shipment of our products to customers and sites around the world. We work closely with hauliers, monitor transport quality and costs and ensure deliveries arrive safely and on time – even in complex situations.

Dispatch

Dispatch prepares products for their journey to the customer. Products are picked to order, packed and made ready for transport. Quality, accuracy and meeting delivery deadlines are at the heart of these activities. It’s the last step before the product reaches the customer.

Whether products travel by road, rail, sea or air: our teams organise transport to be as efficient, cost-effective and sustainable as possible across over 120 countries worldwide.

Did you know?

Our shipping operation in Vorarlberg processes around one million order lines every year across a 3-shift operation, that’s roughly 270,000 tonnes of material, 520,000 pallets or 600,000 m3 of goods.

We already ship 35% of our products to customers by rail and aim to increase this to 50% over the coming years.

Our own rail siding helps us avoid about 7000 lorry journeys every year, cutting CO2 emissions by 90%.

Blum provides over 100 company bicycles, including 20 e-bike, across its sites in Austria.
